John Newbery, a Bitcoin developer at Chaincode Labs, which is devoted to Bitcoin development and blockchain open source projects, has put forward his own views on the development direction of Bitcoin in the next few years. It involves more technical content, but it can still be seen that Future development direction of coins:
In the end of 2019, ten years after the birth of Bitcoin, it is a good time to review and marvel at the great progress Bitcoin has made since Satoshi submitted a white paper to us in 2008.
I think the following is the direction of Bitcoin in the next few years. Tell me what went wrong and if I missed something!
The team dedicated to the development of c-lightning (@Blockstream), eclair (@acinq_co), LND (@lightning), and the rust lightning protocol will continue to rapidly iterate the lightning network protocol .
All software implementations now support basic multipath payments (https://bitcoinops.org/en/topics/multipath-payments/). We will provide better support, as well as dual-fundng, splice-in & splice-out (https://bitcoinops.org/en/topics/splicing/).
* Dual-funding: Allows two users to send Bitcoin to the payment channel for collateral respectively.
* Splice: Allows users to “recharge” funds in the existing Lightning Channel, or “remove” funds from the channel while keeping the channel open.
Taken together, these technologies will make Lightning Network channel and liquidity management easier. They will execute automatically, fade gradually, and the user experience will be greatly improved.
